Sometimes called Pillow or Bladder Tanks, Porta Tank® are collapsible, flexible storage tanks that provide temporary as well as long term liquid storage. Bladder tanks are useful for oil spill recovery operations, bulk liquid transport, storage of bilge slops, potable/grey water, chemicals or fuel storage. Bladder tanks are designed for land based operations, but can be used on the decks of vessels. Standard sizes range from 1000 to 135,000 litres capacity and larger custom bladder tanks. Manufactured from 1100GSM high strength flexible PVC coated polyester fabric these bladder tanks are designed for durability and longevity.
Bladder tanks are suitable for the storage and/or transport of a wide range of liquids including; base, edible, lubricating, & transformer oils, paints, molasses, wine, juices, ink, glycerine and aqueous substances including potable, grey and wastewaters and screened raw sewage.
Bladder tank filling and emptying is undertaken via 2” camlock fittings. These can be replaced with 3” fittings on larger models if required. All bladder tanks have “flapper type” breather valves installed to ensure air is vented as filling occurs. Generally bladder tanks are laid out on level ground with a non-woven geotextile layer underneath to protect the bladder tank integrity from sharp objects.
After use, bladder tanks are usually folded and packed for transport and/or further usage. Bladder tanks can also be installed inside existing rigid tank linings to provide dual medium storage. This can be particularly effective when say transporting water one way and wine on the return trip in a road tanker fitted internally with a bladder tank.”
