Membrane Filtration

Tertiary Treatment Facility - 2

Completed: 2008

Capacity:  300kL/day

Services: Design, Manufacture, Testing, Commissioning and Training

Project Description:

Treated effluent, originally discharged to sewer is treated through a wastewater recycling system to provide water for reuse in boilers and cooling towers. The system consists of clarification, ultrafiltration (using Norit Aquaflex membranes), Ozonation, activated carbon, reverse osmosis and disinfection. The ongoing performance of the UF membranes is ensured through automatic chemically enhanced backwashing using sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid.

The system is automated using an Allen Bradley SLC PLC and Koyo touch screen and is remotely monitored on the site SCADA system.
