Geotube®
Municipal Wastewater Applications - Snow Fields
The Geotube® dewatering container was placed in a ski resort area just prior to the ski season. The treatment plant operator sent the following report : " I first decided to trial Geotube® for sludge removal and storage after reading reports and observing them in use at ......Sewage Treatment Plant in NSW in April 2004, with two months to winter, it was a race. Getting CEO approval was fast, Geotube® took a month, still leaving me a month to set up Geotube® before any significant snow fell.
Having a need for extra sludge storage space in the winter months was my main goal, the fact that a centrifuge was up to three times the cost of Geotube®, a budgetary goal was also sought. Having two drying beds has always been a bonus for sludge drying, however, winter snows and weather conditions prevent their use for five to six months yearly.
Now having trialled a 3.6 x 15m Geotube®, I now feel that I can at least use one drying bed with Geotube® for desludging during all the winter months. Filling Geotube® began in June with a 100,000 litre drop of very light sludge @ 60mg/l with 1.25kg of Poly Electrolyte per 100,000 litres for bag conditioning.
And then it snowed 1 metre plus."
