This client needed to desludge a raw seawater storage tank before undertaking a total refurbishment. The key was to keep the tank on-line for as long as possible before emptying the water phase and undertaking the works.
A crane mounted suction head was connected to an external diesel powered pump and manoeuvered around in the sludge layer. Polymer was dosed to the pumped slurry before being contained and dewatered within a bunded Geotube® dewatering container.
Bag filtrate was pumped back to the tank and the dried sludge was excavated from the bag and disposed of offsite.
