CRS DREDGING & DEWATERING PROJECTS

Dredging & Dewatering

Lithgow City Council

To harvest, pump and dewater ~ 7,500m³ of anaerobic sewage sludge from LCC’s sludge lagoon, CRS utilized their unmanned cutter suction dredge and coupled it with their proven Geotube® dewatering technology.

Polymer was dosed and mixed to the sludge in-line to ensure effective solid:liquid separation and consequent dewatering of the sludge within the Geotube® containers. Eight Geotube® dewatering containers placed in a lined bund were fed via flexible hose manifold and isolation gate valves with the filtrate being pumped back to the sludge lagoon, some 150m away.

Solids in the Geotube® units three days after cessation of pumping was measured between 10-17 % w/w with > 30% solids achievable depending upon the length of time the sludge is left in the bags to undergo final drying and desiccation.

Using this system with pump rates of up to 250m³ and having the ability to leave sludge to dry, totally contained within Geotube® containers until a time when disposal suits, CRS can offer clients total flexibility when planning to desludge and dewater sludge lagoons.
