Brisbane QLD - Scarborough Boat Harbour

In 2003 Port of Brisbane decided to trial Geotube® dewatering containers in conjunction with dredging of the Scarborough Boat Harbour. Geotube® containers were laid out in a bunded area and two were pumped full without the use of polymer and two with; The particle size of the dredged material was 65% < 1 micron and as a consequence the bags without polymer rapidly ceased dewatering as the pores in the geotextile weave became blocked. Conversely the bags that were filled with chemically conditioned dredged material dewatered continuously due to the solid:liquid seperation achieved.
